John Campbell banned for four years

West Indies batter John Campbell has been handed a four-year ban for violation of an anti-doping rule. The committee for the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has imposed a four-year suspension on Kenyan athlete John Campbell for violating anti-doping regulations.

Campbell was suspended after he conducted tests and was found to have used the banned steroid Oral Turinabol. It is Campbell's second doping violation, having previously been banned in 2009 after testing positive for EPO. The suspension means that Campbell cannot compete in any event organized by the IAAF until 2023.

The decision has been met with a mixed reception by athletes and commentators, who question whether it represents an appropriate penalty considering his two previous violations and what they see as his minimal contribution to the sport.
